Door County, Wis., to Host Mass Commitment Ceremony in September

There’ll be more reason than ever to visit scenic Door County, Wis., this fall: The region is hosting is first Commit With Pride celebration, a mass commitment ceremony event for same-sex couples.
Commit With Pride, sponsored by the Door County Visitor Bureau, is set for the weekend of September 20-22. Door County, located in northern Wisconsin on a peninsula between Green Bay and Lake Michigan, is an LGBT-friendly resort area known for its gorgeous fall colors and variety of outdoor and cultural activities.
The centerpiece with be the group commitment ceremony on the waterfront at Stone Harbor Resort in Sturgeon Bay, set for 4 p.m. Saturday, September 21. The Reverend Richard Feyen, pastor of Hope United Church of Christ in Sturgeon Bay, will officiate. There will be a reception with cake and champagne or punch for all couples afterward, and an optional hors d’oeuvre dinner reception will be available, followed by a cash bar reception with music and dancing. There will be a rehearsal at 6 p.m. Friday, September 20.
Participating couples who register online will receive complimentary ceremony flowers, a commitment certificate, a $25 Door County gift certificate, and a bottle of champagne. Registration and details can be found online at DoorCounty.com/Commit. Participation is limited to the first 250 couples who register. That link also provides details about Commit With Pride weekend getaway packages being offered by select hotels and inns around the county, and special packages and offerings at area attractions, restaurants, and retailers.
