EVENTS CALENDAR

The travel editorial staff takes your travel needs very seriously. We continually scour the globe on the lookout for gay, gay-friendly or queer (in both senses of the word!) events to put on your gay agenda.

This month, rev it up in Brighton, England; cruise the Northeast from New York to Nova Scotia; show your pride in Anchorage, Alaska; and look for the best in LGBT cinema in Philadelphia, while things get hairy in Provincetown and same-sex-lovin' cowboys and girls from around the world rustle up to Calgary for some goat dressing, barrel jumping and other such antics.

Pick of the month:

Start planning for June:

15th Annual Extreme Rodeo
June 26-30, 2008
Calgary, Alberta

The rodeo that showed Jake and Heath how it's done, Calgary is one of the big ones on the gay rodeo circuit (www.argra.org). On-site competitions for the most lavishly decorated campsites add new meaning to the term "camp."

Rainbow Rampage
June 28-July 4, 2008
Brighton, England to Budapest, Hungary

Gear up for the world's first gay-centric motor sports events as seven-day motor rally Rainbow Rampage revs its engines in sunny Brighton in the south of England. The Brighton leg of the event kicks off with parties and a grand official send off before participants are across the channel and heading to Paris. Drivers follow a course designed to highlight spectacular non-highway roads and participate in fun challenges as they cruise between Paris, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Germany, Berlin, Prague, Vienna and Budapest, Hungary. The Rainbow Rampage is essentially a large group road trip that precedes the gay Pride parade in Budapest, where the tour ends. Participants are given free entry to participate in the parade as a grand finale that also includes luxury accommodations.

On Sept. 27, 2008, the U.S. rally kicks off in Seattle and heads for Crater Lake, Ore., and Lake Tahoe, Nev., before hurtling off to Las Vegas, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
