Spotlight on Mexico City: Casa Barragán

The home of the famed architect is a unique destination that should not be missed.

One would never imagine you could find a building considered a “World Heritage,” as defined by UNESCO, in the middle of workshops, small grocery stores, and inns in the Mexico City neighborhood of Tacubaya.

The façade of the house blends in with the surroundings and does not attract attention, but as you walk the first steps into Casa Barragán you will be submerged in this great Mexican´s vision.

Named after the celebrated architect and designer Luis Barragán, the house with yellow floors, pink walls, and modern stairways, reflects different architectural currents and philosophies. Throughout its 3 levels it is filled with art pieces, art deco lamps, and white structures that separate a room from another.

It is open for visits, although you must set a date previously via email or telephone. Casaluisbarragan.org
