A female starchitect designed a new condo tower that will rest above the popular elevated park.

Zaha Hadid, a female British-Iraqi architect, unveiled her designs for a new condo tower to be built above Manhattan's High Line park.

Hadid's building, an 11-story condo tower, will face some specific engineering hurdles as it must be built to straddle the High Line, the former-rail line-current-public park. "You can't really go wild," she told New York magazine of the design limitations, yet it still "comes off like the delightful Earth home for the weary intergalactic superrich."

The High Line sits in far west Manhattan, near Chelsea, the city's famed queer neighborhood. The park is parallel to Tenth Avenue, running from 30th Street to the north to Gansevoort Street to the south. Since opening in 2009, the green space has helped revitalize the former moribund area, with new cafes, offices, condos, and hotels. The Standard, High Line hotel was built above the park and has become infamous for some of its guests conducting very public trysts.
