Who Does Hedwig Better: NPH or Andrew Rannells?

By Neal Broverman

Harris's Tony-winning turn in Hedwig and the Angry Inch made Broadway hot again. Now it's Rannells's turn to put on Hedwig's miniskirt.

Seeing NPH in Hedwig is a must-see for any gay traveler to New York. The Broadway production of John Cameron Mitchell's off-Broadway hit (and later a film) about a transgender German-American rock star is a jolt of much-needed energy to the Great White Way. But NPH steps down from the role on August 17, and Andrew Rannells (Book of Mormon, The New Normal, Girls) takes over August 20 at the Belasco Theatre for an eight-week engagement. Take a look at the Rannells's poster and let us know in the comments: which out star is more Hedwig?
