62nd Berlin International Film Festival
February 9-19, 2012
The Berlinale is one of the world’s leading film events with almost 300,000 tickets being sold. During two weeks about 400 films are shown, featuring art, glamour, parties and business. Next year’s highlights include the Opening Ceremony on February 2, the ‘European Film Market’ on Feb 9-17, and the ‘Berlinale Kinotag’ on Feb 19. Every year at the Berlinale, the ‘Teddy Award’, a prestigious LGBT film prize is awarded.

Rose Monday Parade, Cologne

The huge party in Cologne starts again on Thursday (Women’s Carnival Day) before Ash Wednesday and ends on Tuesday. The highlight of the carnival is Rose Monday, where millions of people are out on the streets dressed in costumes to celebrate “the crazy days”.

L-Beach Festival, Baltic Sea

L-Beach is Europe’s biggest indoor festival, where about 4,300 women meet in order to celebrate an entire weekend together. There are parties, great live music, DJ sets, film nights and other fun, sporty events. The beautiful white and long beach is part of a beach resort which is right behind the dunes.

The Carnival of Cultures, Berlin

In Berlin, approximately 450, 000 people out of 3.4 million inhabitants don’t have German citizenship—this event celebrates them all.
