Actor Kit Williamson shares the must-do events and entertainment in Vegas.

Newlyweds Kit Williamson and John Halbach explore an array of options OUT for a weekend getaway in the Entertainment Capital of the World – Las Vegas. From fine dining and indulgent spa treatments to poolside R&R and nighttime revelry, Kit and John experience all the excitement Las Vegas has to offer.

Where to Stay:

Have you ever stayed in a pyramid before? You don’t have to be a Pharaoh to experience the Luxor’s unique accommodations, with slanted walls and windows providing a truly unique view of the strip, and playful hieroglyphics and giant statues offering a truly unique aesthetic throughout the hotel. Everything at the Luxor is designed to amuse and excite you, and you’ll never run out of things to see and do.

Where to Play:

1. Temptations Sundays

What gaycation is complete without an afternoon tea dance? At Temptations Sundays, host J.Son and DJ Matt Lucio turn the pool into a dance floor. While the gogo dancers have perfect physiques, Temptations Sundays caters to every type of LGBT imaginable; there is a real come one, come all vibe. Make sure to take a selfie in front of the Luxor pyramid—it’s really a site to see and, along with the giant painted sphynx in front of the hotel, one of the most iconic landmarks in Vegas.

Kit’s Take:

Make friends! We rented a cabana and ran into Manila Luzon (from our very own EastSiders’) hanging out with the dancers from JLo’s show.  One charming gent from New Zealand regaled us with tales of how he and the rest of the dancers are being put up in hotel rooms for the duration of the run—three years—which brought to mind Elaine Stritch at The Carlysle or Eloise at the Plaza.

2. Carrot Top

Carrot top has been in residency at the Luxor since 2005 and recently announced a five-year contract renewal, performing six nights a week inside the Atrium Showroom. His set is hilarious, full of the classic prop comedy he’s known for as well as topical jokes about pop culture and the election. Be prepared: towards the end of the show he walks through the crowd with a bottle of Crown Royal, doling out shots until the bottle is empty.

Kit’s Take:

After the show we went backstage to hang out with Carrot Top and it was great getting to see a different side of him. Ask about arranging your own personal meet and greet at the box office when you pick up your tickets!

3. LAX Nightclub

This trendy nightclub is located inside the casino itself, with dancers on pedestals stationed outside the entrance so you can’t miss it. Laser light shows and bursts of fog timed to the DJ’s set bring the dance floor to life, and bottle service in the VIP section is delivered with a fun strobe light topper. Dance the night away or get lost in conversation with other Vegas partygoers on the lounge’s plush leather couches.

Kit’s Take:

John and I had a blast making lots of friends at LAX. A lot of people come to Vegas for big life events; birthdays, anniversaries, bachelor parties, etc., and are eager to tell you their stories. Over a bottle of vodka, we made fast friends with a bachelorette party and a badass lesbian that gave us her best gay Vegas recommendations.
