Joanna Lumley's Nile, a fascinating exploration of Africa hosted by the AbFab star, debuts on DVD.

If you want to see a different side of Africa, and Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley, check out her special, Joanna Lumley's Nile, out Tuesday on DVD.

Best known for her role as boozy Patsy, Lumley is also a humanitarian and self-proclaimed childhood army brat who always dreamed of visiting the Nile River. She finally got her wish a few years back when she traveled by fishing boat, ferry, cruise ship, plane, train, and car from the Egyptian city of Alexandria all the way to the river's source in Sudan. The two-disc set contains four episodes that chronicle Lumley's 4,000-mile journey across five nations.

"The ideal travel companion, she's game for almost anything," reads press notes for the DVD, "from sleeping on a crowded deck to slogging through mud and judging an 'Ancient Egypt Night' contest."
