New Yorkers Against Trump
Photos by Glenn Garner
Tension has reached a new high across the United States since Donald Trump was announced as the victor of the 2016 presidential election. A huge upset for LGBTQs, Muslims, women, immigrants, people with disabilities, people of color, and countless other groups, the response has been loud and clear. From Tweets to videos to protests across the country, progressive-minded Americans are making their voices heard.
In New York, a diverse crowd accumulated at Columbus Circle, outside Trump Tower. Holding up various signs with messages that covered a range of issues Trump has mocked, everyone came together in solidarity and marched down Broadway in a powerful gesture of unity in the face of adversity. It was just the beginning of a protest the drew out New Yorkers for blocks, shutting down traffic.
