NYC Pride March
Although this year's New York City Pride March was just as full of proud queer people and loving supporters, it was noticeably more politically charged than usual. Just a few floats behind Gavin Grimm and Edie Windsor was Chelsea Manning, looking empowered at the front of the ACLU float, only weeks after her release from prison. Activists marched for numerous queer causes, carrying signs to raise awareness of Trumpcare, police brutality, trans lives, and many other important issues.
The march was equally balanced with a sense of celebration and pride. Many people expressed their queer identities through loud and colorful ensembles while some expressed it through their lack thereof. Big companies like Delta, Facebook, and T-Mobile marched in vast numbers, showing their support. Cast members of Broad City, Transparent, I Love Dick, Fire Island, and RuPaul's Drag Race were also present to represent the queer community.
