Demir Demirov is a gay Russian artist and activist. Living homeless and HIV-positive in Moscow, he's denied government-funded treatment. His work is reminiscent of such artists as Keith Haring, pulling from the emotional distress of living with HIV in a hostile society while celebrating his sexuality.
Demir Demirov's work is on display at the MooiMan male art gallery in the Netherlands through December 11. All proceeds go toward covering HIV costs for Demirov and his friends.
