This Just Out: Florida LGBT Events Postponed Due to Hurricane Matthew

Hurricane Matthew

MiFo Film Festival and Orlanda Pride Both on Hold

At 5:30am EST, Hurricane Matthew slammed into the Florida coast, wreaking havoc on the Sunshine State and causing 300,000 residents to lose power. The category 4 storm - the worst in a decade - has also prompted the evacuation of more than 1.5 million people living in the area between Miami-Dade and Nassau Counties.

Due to the storm, the parade for Orlando Come Out with Pride, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday in downtown Orlando, will be moved to sometime in November according to the organization's Facebook page. This comes on the heels of the cancellation of two parties scheduled for earlier in the week.

Similarly, the MiFo LGBT Film Festival has postponed its Opening Night film and party to October 14 as well as some of its screenings of other films in the program. Anyone who has already purchased tickets to these events will be notified by email with the latest information.
