Announcing their new album, WET TENNIS, the duo talk about sexual freedom, freakness, why everything’s better wet, and the power of the pussy.

SOFI TUKKER, the electronic dance duo of Sophie Hawley-Weld and Tucker Halpern, have just released a video for “Original Sin,” (watch below) a song from their latest album, WET TENNIS, the follow-up to their 2018 GRAMMY nominated debut album Treehous.

With gold and platinum records on every continent but Antarctica have fostered a fan community known as Freak Fam, which celebrates the band for its inclusive and global perspective and musical themes of liberation, unity, and self-empowerment. SOFI TUKKER are also passionate activists who have raised funds and awareness for Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Natural Resources Defense Council, and the March for Our Lives.

During the pandemic, SOFI TUKKER’s livestreams were a daily ceremony for so many fans that the duo became the 2nd-most livestreamed artist of 2020 according to Pollstar Magazine. Their latest album WET TENNIS focuses on “healing positivity, not a shortsighted positivity that doesn’t recognize the turmoil in the world but one that helps navigate them and effect positive change.”

The artists explain in a statement to press that WET TENNIS is an acronym: When Everyone Tries to Evolve, Nothing Negative Is Safe. For the duo, this is about “forward movement, optimism and positive growth, no matter what the challenge. Negativity will happen, but it won’t stick around for long when we fully embrace and flow through it.”

They add, “WET TENNIS is a lifestyle. It says: everything’s better when wet. Wetness is excitement, the pussy, the birthplace of all creation. Wetness is mother nature, it’s movement, flow, sweat, and juice. WET TENNIS is play, and a back-and-forth movement.”

SOFI TUKKER  says, ”Original Sin‘ is the perfect way to introduce the world of WET TENNIS and it’s very emblematic of  ‘the freak fam,’ our community. It says: we aren’t meant to be saints. We aren’t born sinners. We’re just a bunch of freaks who make mistakes and keep trying to do our best.”

Directed by Aerin Moreno and filmed in Oahu, Hawaii the video features custom tennis outfits designed by Johnny Wujek (Katy Perry, HBO’s Legendary).

”The ‘Original Sin’ video is the Garden of Eden of the WET TENNIS world," the duo explains. "It’s a place beaming with sexual freedom and colorful possibilities. At first, we see everybody in their traditional roles, wearing all white, clapping politely, acting as one “should” during a tennis match, but as the world unfolds, we see that everyone is a freak. At the end of the video, that freakiness is liberated as we all look up to the WET TENNIS statue in the sky."

“We have a moment of Sophie in a headdress made of tennis balls. And of course--an orgy in the confessional booth (below), set in front of the lush Hawaiian mountains. It was so much fun to shoot this video and create this world from our bizarre imaginations into real life. We hope it invites people to take a step away from the path they think they’re supposed to be on towards one where all their desires and colors are welcomed. And we hope it puts people into a sexy state of mind. “
