Gay Festivus Pole to Be Erected in Oklahoma

As in Florida, a rainbow-colored monument to pride will go up in Oklahoma City.

Chaz Stevens has scored another win with his Festivus pole, a play on a famous Seinfeld episode that featured the made-up holiday.

The Deerfield, Fla., man recently convinced officials in Tallahassee to allow his pole on the grounds of the state capitol, which will be displayed from December 21 through 28.

Stevens is the executive director of the Humanity Fund — another play on Seinfeld, which featured a similarily named but phony organization. The Humanity Fund advocates for LGBT rights and separation of church and state; Stevens pushed for his prideful pole in light of Florida officials green-lighting a Nativity scene at the state capitol two years ago.

After his success in Florida, Stevens applied for placement of the pole in Arkansas and Oklahoma — he recently received approvals from Oklahoma City, and the disco ball-topped ornament will be on display in the rotunda of the state capitol building December 23, reports KFSM
