Coveted: Abbott Fragrances
Four location-inspired scents that are just as good as being there.
You have probably heard that smell is the sense most strongly linked to memory. Indeed, smells are processed by the olfactory bulb which has direct connections to the amygdala and hippocampus, two areas of the brain closely associated with emotion and memory. (In contrast, sights, sound and touch are not channeled through these regions of the brain at all.) This is why a faint whiff of motor oil, for instance, might pull you back to weekends in your parents' driveway as you watch your dad fix the family car.
Enter Abbott, a brand new collection of location-based fragrances - Sequoia (with notes of incense, cedarwood and sandalwood); The Cape (blending mint, ginger and moss); Mojave (comingling bergamot, saffron and tobacco leaf); and, Telluride (a mix of pepper, suede and tonka bean) - each guaranteed to transport you back to destinations-once-visited or, at the very least, make you yearn to experience these places for the very first time.
Each scent retails for $65 (30 mL). Not sure which to try? Abbott offers a Home Try-On Kit with samples of all four scents for just $5.
