A massive 100-foot-tall mirror ball has been moved into the desert to the delight of revelers getting ready for this year’s Burning Man celebration.
Danish architects Bjarke Ingels and Jakob Lange brought the 30-ton structure called “The Orb” to be part of one of the many art installations at Black Rock Desert Nevada. The orb is scaled to 1:500,000 of earth’s surface.
"The ORB is a mirror for earth lovers - reflecting the passing daytime, evolving life and other art works beneath it - a new planet to sci-fi fans, a wayfinder for travelers or just a huge disco ball to those who love a good party!” the architects said.
The orb will also be helpful for festival-goers. Since dust storms often make it hard to navigate the desert terrain, it will serve as a navigation point. At night, it is expected to blend in entirely with the surroundings.
Trippy brah!
