Weekly Gay Bar Crawl Launching in London, But Women Not Allowed

See the sights and meet like-minded people — well, dudes — at a new gay bar crawl launching this spring.

A new, organized gay bar crawl is launching in London, promising a tour of the city's liveliest gay bars and clubs and introductions to other city newbies.

For 30 pounds, or about $50, participants will get a free drink, entry to at least three nightspots, insights into "local gay trends" from gay guides, and a "unique parting gift," according to a press release. The crawl kicks off May 3 and happens every Saturday evening. Participating bars and clubs include Ku Bar, Circa, The Yard, The Edge, Rupert Street Bar, and G-A-Y at Heaven.

Maybe the best part of the crawl is the opportunities for travelers and new residents of London to meet other folks who like to kick up their heels on the weekend. The venture, founded by a British social media manager and an American MBA graduate, doesn't allow women to join, according to the FAQs section of the website. "Unfortunately our gay bar crawls are exclusively for men," reads the site. "Straight men are welcomed, but based on the night we may have to change the location of where we will visit and some locations don't allow women. Sorry ladies, but feel free to contact us and we can make some recommendations as to where you can go with your gay friends." Hmmm, kind of offensive, no?
