My boyfriend and I just got back from St John's and that island has it all!
The highlight was a day trip to BVI’s Virgin Gorda Baths and Norman Island Caves! (Passport required). The "Painkillers" -- the signature island drink of rum, fresh juices and nutmeg -- alone make Cruz Bay Watersports’ day-trip package well worth the price.
Staying at the Westin St. John’s three-bedroom villa kept our family trip easy, but we did venture out to snorkel at Trunk Bay -- only $5 rental! -- and to Salmon Beach, which was secluded but neither gay nor nude as we had heard.
For a nice dinner out, we headed to Asolare in Cruz Bay on North Road where we were lucky enough to get an outdoor table thanks to our reservation. Be prepared to be directed to the bar –- even if you’re on time for your reservation -- and to fall in love with the rock shrimp coconut lemongrass soup or try the local catch of the day (mahi mahi in lemon beur blanc). Get the Alexander Valley Vineyards Sin Zin to pair perfectly with the lamb chops, duck or seared kobe beef.
