One World Trade Center's spire is set to be installed today, making the New York landmark the tallest building on this side of the world.

One World Trade Center is expected to be fit with its spire on Thursday, bringing the New York City landmark to its full 1,776 feet and making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. The spire, which is 400 feet in length and weighs 800 tons, was scheduled to go up on Monday, but that was postponed because of high winds. The 104-story building opens next year.

See close up images of the spire here, and check out Towleroad for amazing video video footage from a helicopter hovering at the top of the tower.
