OUT sent newlyweds Kit Williamson and John Halbach, from the acclaimed series, Eastsiders, to our favorite gay mecca, Key West. From breakfast pineapple pancakes to poolside margaritas, and from private tours of the Hemingway Home to nude snorkeling off the Florida coast, these guys experienced and discovered all that Gay Key West has to offer. Follow along as Kit and John take you OUT in Key West.
There’s so much to see and do in Key West, whether you’re looking for adventure or rest and relaxation, you’ve come to the right place. Here are some highlights of what we explored on our trip.
Blu Q Adventures
Blu Q is the largest and oldest gay owned and operated charter in all of Key West. Guests can choose between Sailing, Snorkeling, and Paddle boarding trips that are all-male and clothing-optional. They also offer an incredible sunset cruise, with complimentary drinks and music to enjoy as the sun goes down.
Kit's Take: Sailing with Blu Q was a once in a lifetime experience, but it’s one that you can have again and again, as they offer excursions all year. After going out on the water with Captain Steve, Captain Moe, and First Mate Trent, it is clear why they all fell in love with sailing and with Key West. Definitely stick with Trent if you decide to go snorkeling, as he knows all the best places on the reef.
Key West Distillery
Founded by a husband and wife team who relocated to the area from New York, Key West Distilling makes small batch Spirits, Rums, Vodkas, and Whiskey. Using only the finest ingredients and age-old distilling processes, they promise you will find some “paradise” in every bottle.
Kit's Take: Their spirits were delicious! I especially enjoyed the spiced rum, that I swear tastes like Christmas, and the horseradish vodka, that I am dying to try in a Bloody Mary!
Ocean Wellness Spa & Salon
Located in the heart of old town Key West, Ocean Wellness Spa & Salon offers every kind of service to help you unwind. From massages to body wraps, facial care to acupuncture, they have got you covered.
Kit's Take: The Ocean Wellness Spa was the perfect place to unwind after all the exploring we did in Key West. They greeted us with champagne upon our arrival and treated us to an amazing couples massage. Every time we get a great massage we are reminded we should get them more often, this time was definitely one of those reminders.
