William Mast, an Arizona reader, found this precariously positioned house in Yemen, located south of Saudi Arabia on the Red Sea and Indian Ocean. “Several houses are built up and around the rock, actually on top of each other,” he says. “Middle Eastern culture is built on strong family ties, and this is a visual example of how they build upon each other. Steps and ladders inside are the only access to the top.”
