Sometimes we get so caught up in today’s ever-changing technological advances that we forget to stop and enjoy some of life’s most beautiful wonders. For citizens of Reykjavík, they were recently reminded of one such wonder.
On Wednesday night, the Icelandic capital shut off the city’s street lights for one hours to give its residents a better view of the aurora borealis. According to The Guardian, local government encouraged citizens to switch off their own lights at home to minimize light pollution. The result was a sky of beautiful waves of green light.
