WOW Airlines Names New Plane in Honor of LGBT Community

Iceland's budget airline, WOW, has been working to bring transatlantic travel to the masses. Their latest route, scheduled to begin in June, connects San Francisco and Reykjavik with a direct flight. In honor of San Francisco's historic connection to the LGBT community, WOW chose to chrisen the Airbus 330-300 the TF-Gay. 

According to founder and CEO Skúli Mogensen, the move is absolutely in line with their principles:

“WOW air is an airline for the people and one of our most important goals is to lower fares in order to enable everybody to travel the world and get to know different cultures. We wholeheartedly support queer people’s fight for rights. Just as we support equal rights for everybody, no matter their gender, religion, ethnicity or culture. When we announced we were going to start flying to San Francisco, one of our pilots approached me and suggested the TF-GAY registry.”
