Cherry's on the Bay isn't just a homey Fire Island cafe where you can grab a bite at any hour—it's also a quintessential part of the Fire Island community.
Cherry's owners Jacqué Piazza and Donna Bianco have long strived to run their business in harmony with Cherry Grove's open, accepting way of life. As a result, Cherry's has a welcoming atmosphere and everyone — from the patrons to the wait staff—feels like family; that's probably because many of them work and party in Fire Island's small community as well.
No matter the time of day, you can snag bar food, salads, sandwiches, fish and seafood dishes at Cherry's. But you can also drop by for their weekly drag shows with performers like Hedda Lettuce, Blackie O, and Bianca Del Rio; enjoy their theme parties with contests and special guest DJs or just stop by for one of their signature drink specials.
You should also consider stopping by Piazza and Bianco's seafood restaurant Sand Castle, if you're looking for some surf while cruising the Fire Island turf.
