Ft. Lauderdale Doubles its Gay Pride

It's a bit confusing but entirely welcome that Ft. Lauderdale hosts two Gay Pride events. If you missed Pride South Florida's Pridefest 2010 March 13-14, start planning now for the 2010 Stonewall Street Festival and Parade, scheduled for June 19. Yep it's hot and steamy in southern Florida in June but for many, that just adds to the sweaty fun to be had.
Speaking of pride, locals are incredibly happy and righteously boastful of the newest addition to Wilton Manor's already-fun nightlife. The Manor is a multi-purpose entertainment complex with a restaurant, martini bar, lounge, nightclub, Internet cafe, sports bar, and regular events.
It is conveniently located in the heart of gay-central Wilton Manors, within walking (or stumbling depending on the hour) distance from many other popular bars and restaurants. It's one of those all-too-rare gay venues (like West Hollywood's The Abbey) where you can bring a date or find one.
One local breathlessly told us, "It brings me back to the old Coliseum days," referring to the hugely popular disco that drew crowds from Miami and beyond.
Speaking of hot, Sizzle Miami 2010 takes place over Memorial Day weekend (May 27-June 1), having expanded from a one-day event to a rocking five-day series of day-time and night-time including parties, a cruise, dinner, a beach outing, and more. Billed as the largest urban gay event, Sizzle attracts thousands of gay African-American men and some women (approximately 2%) to Miami.
