A Day in Gay America Photo Project Is Back August 12
Fashion yourself a shutterbug? An activist? An everyday Joe or Josephine who wants to share your world?
The Advocate is encouraging all LGBT Americans to submit a photo of their everyday lives on August 12, 2011. The 2nd annual “A Day in Gay America” photo project (click here for last year's inaugural edition) will be a series of photos that will run online at Advocate.com and a select few photos (handpicked by the editors) will make it into the special Day in Gay America edition of the magazine for November 2011. Last year's participants included gaylebs like Jake Shears, Rachel Maddow, and Rip Taylor -- and everyday heroes like you.
Inspired by the 1986 book, A Day in the Life of America, the guys at the Advocate want to get images of all aspects of your lives. Work, play, house life, family, friends, on your own, being serious, frivolous, glamorous or gritty -- they want to see it all. The photos need to be doco-style so no posed portraits, glam squads or production design, just the every day look you go by!
