As one of the only Caribbean nations to host a Pride celebration for LGBT residents and visitors, Curacao is a tolerant island in a sea of homophobia. While some in the region work to make Caribbean nations like Jamaica more hospitable to gay and transgender people, the former Dutch colony is already there, welcoming LGBT tourists to the island with open arms. The island's second Pride celebration worked to spread that message of inclusivity, while also allowing plenty of opportunity to dance and get rowdy. The Pride festivities, centered in the Handelskade neighborhood in the capital of Willemstad, wrapped in Sunday after theme parties (including the White Party shown below), a movie marathon, and parades took over the island.
