New York Gay Bar Shooting Leaves One Dead, Three Injured on Thanksgiving Day (Breaking)

"This was an isolated incident," ensures Albany police spokesman Steve Smith.

Around 2am on Thanksgiving day, police arrived at Rocks, a gay nightclub in Albany, NY where two men and two women were shot inside, according to WNYT

Albany police spokesman Steve Smith provided further details: "Two males and two females sustained a gunshot wound inside the bar. One male later died at Albany Medical Center hospital as a result of his injuries the three other victims all sustained non-life-threatening injuries.”

The shooter is still on the loose, but Smith assured the community “this was an isolated incident” and not an attack on the LGBTQ community.

"Regardless, an act of violence happened in one of our community spaces and a life was lost in one of our sanctuaries,” read a statement from the Pride Center of the Capital Region

Rocks bar owner says this is the first shooting at the bar and that there was ample security. He has since handed over surveillance footage to the police.

A dinner scheduled at the bar before the shooting occurred will still take place. Organizers are adamant not to let violence destroy the spirit of Thanksgiving.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.
