The Eastsiders creator returned home to host Mississippi's second annual Pride.
Although the LGBT community of Mississippi has faced numerous struggles including the recently struck down HB 1523, the "religious freedom" bill that threatened the rights of the state's numerous minorities, they kept their spirits high as they celebrated the second annual Mississippi Pride. The festival organized by the local LGBT organization, Unity Mississippi took place Saturday, June 25 at Smith Park in Jackson.
Out Traveler contributor, Eastsiders creator, and Mississippi native, Kit Williamson returned home to serve as emcee for the festivities. As host, he immersed himself in Jackson's LGBT community and met some of the many people who make up an often overlooked population. Always camera-ready, he documented the festivities for his new YouTube channel.
