Japan's Vending Machine Love Comes Stateside as Uniqlo Unveils Airport On-the-Go Clothing

Just in case you forgot your underwear.

Japanese retailer Uniqlo is already many travelers’ go-to outlet for decently priced #lewks for any trip, and soon jet setters can grab styles on the go when the company launches its vending machines in airports and malls.

Now, forgetful travelers—or those just looking to treat themselves—can access Uniqlo’s gear from ten locations across the US. The six-foot-high vending machines will be placed across the US in areas with high numbers of passersby (though no specific locations have been given).

"At the airport, you don’t have a lot of time to wait in line and explore a store," Uniqlo’s US Marketing Chief Marisol Tamaro told the Wall Street Journal in a tight-lipped interview about the planned expansion.

She did offer up one for-sure item that will be in the machine: "heat-retaining shirts and lightweight down jackets."

Hey, it’s no on-demand cupcake machine, but there were many times this could have helped us out in a pinch (we’ll always have that Hudson News sweater though).
