As evening strikes and lights start to glow, it’s time to delve into Amsterdam’s nocturnal delights. Sashay into a chic wine boite for a glass of something bold or sample local brews at a neighborhood pub by a canal. Soak in sultry sounds in a slick jazz bar or watch bands take to the stages of the Rembrantsplein-Leidseplein. Contemplate an extensive drinks list at a hip gin den or linger over tapas and cocktails in a stunning, renovated townhouse. Even spot a celeb or two at Jimmy Woo, the city’s latest haunt for the in-crowd.
The beautiful people frequent the upscale bars of the predominantly gay Reguliersdwarsstraat. Friendly locals lounge over beers at laidback watering holes along the Amstel River and the adjacent Halvemaansteeg. The leather crowd frequents the Warmoesstraat, in the heart of Amsterdam's red light district. The Kerkstraat is a quieter street, with charming gay cafés and neighborhood hole-in-the-walls. The Jordaan district is another lovely neighborhood, home to numerous, quiet cafés.
