Boyd Raimond, development manager of the Dutch Fashion Foundation, knows what it?s like to be a newbie in this oft-hectic city; he only arrived to Amsterdam from a tiny town in Noord-Holland 2 1/2 years ago. His best advice for visitors: rent a bike. "Roaming around, in all directions, discovering new things every time -- that was my favorite thing about moving to a big city," he gushes. And although he prefers to call the Jordaan home, a village-like nabe chock-full of nice shops, restaurants, and cozy corner bars a mere five minutes from Central Station, when it?s time to hit the town, the best is always just a bike ride away.
