Florida Keys to Host Its First LGBT Wedding Expo Since Legalizing Marriage Equality

On January 6, marriage equality became official in Florida and the Keys wasted no time rolling out the red carpet for betrothed same-sex couples by planning a Gay Key West Same-Sex Wedding Expo on Wednesday, March 11 at 5:30 p.m. Presented by the LGBT Business Guild, the expo (and a guild mixer) will take place in the grand ballroom at the Marriott Beachside Hotel, 3841 N. Roosevelt Blvd.

Expo attendees - whether planning an intimate ceremony or an extravagant destination wedding - can expect to find all of the local resources they need from flowers and caterers to jewelers, event planners, photographers and cake artists.

Of course, Key West has historically led the way in Florida for LGBT equality. It was the first city in Florida to officially recognize same-sex domestic partnerships and, minutes after midnight on January 6, was the site for the wedding of residents Aaron Huntsman and William Lee Jones, whose lawsuit helped pave the way for marriage equality in the state.

Admission to the Gay Key West Same-Sex Wedding Expo and mixer is $10 per person. For more information, visit GayKeyWestFL.com.
