Out Traveler's voters chose Reykjavik as the breakout destination for 2015, but Lonely Planet's editors looked toward a disregarded chunk of Gotham for their pick: Queens.
The borough, mostly known by travelers as the home of JFK and La Guardia airports, was praised for its restaurants and art scene. Lonely Planet also highlighted the "reinvented seaside at Rockaway," and neighborhoods like Flushing, Long Island City, Astoria, and Jackson Heights.

Other Lonely Planet picks for U.S. destinations include New Orleans, Indianapolis, and Oakland. Read more here.
