Gardner, a gay man who also owns Palm Springs' popular 533 Viet Fusion and Dash and a Handful Catering, named his new restaurant after his husband, telling the Desert Sun, "I thought, what better way to pay homage to my husband than to name the restaurant after him?"
Roly's menu sets itself apart by offering wide selection of gluten-free dishes (the sizzling ju ju chicken is made with a potato starch that acts as a breaded base for tangy ginger and chili flavors) and freshly made dim sum.
Chef DJ Cheek (formerly of TAO Los Angeles, and TAO Las Vegas) brings modern twists to the locally-sourced Chinese dishes, while his wife Chef Yolanda Cheek heads up the dim sum menu, including choice offerings like lobster dumplings with Shitake mushrooms and a truffle butter sauce.
Choosing the Drag & Delivery option on the Roly China Fusion online menu you can either schedule a full 30-minute drag show (an extra $300 on top of your meal), or a three-number, short show ($150).
