How about some tips for getting to know the locals?
Zurich is a very busy place, so the best time to meet the locals is when they?re off-duty. At high noon on a sunny day at the lake they are relaxed, easygoing, and ready for small talk. Or try after work -- when they go for their ?beer o?clock.?
For travelers who have more time to spend in Switzerland -- where should they go?
Switzerland has a lot of interesting, beautiful and totally different places. My top picks would be:
Geneva
Geneva has a special French touch. See the famous United Nations building, enjoy Lake Geneva or watch the clock chime in the Passage Malbuisson.
Lausanne
Ride the metro, which is the steepest in the world with an altitude difference of 1,100 feet.
Montreux
Visit Chillon Castle on the shores of Lake Geneva. You will surely fall under its charm.
Lucerne
Old town feelings guaranteed, here. Check out the old wooden Chapel Bridge or take a hike on Mount Rigi and admire the view of Lake Lucerne.
Zermatt
If you?re into hiking, you should go to Zermatt, where our famous triangle-shaped Mount Matterhorn is.
Basel
Basel has great architecture.
St. Moritz
This is the place where you meet kings and queens, famous stars and the richest of the rich. Also a great place for all outdoor sports.
Lugano
Savour the moment with an Italian-style mentality.
As you can see, Switzerland has a lot of different faces and possibilities. I?ve just named a few, but there is something for every taste. It?s worth visiting my lovely little country -- I bet you will say the same. I hope to see you soon!
