In the throes of this frigid season, we’re compelled to just hole up and keep warm. But cozy doesn’t have to mean sloppy. No matter where you are this winter, before you get the fireplace roaring, whiskey in hand, try settling into some duds that call to mind a dapper, domestic Paul Bunyan.
Several American brands — such as Tommy Hilfiger, Billy Reid, and Kenneth Cole — are increasingly looking back to the classics, updating fabrics and serving up modern interpretations of pieces you may have thought were miles away from chic.
The right combination — a checkered flannel, snug knitwear, and a bit of leather — says you’re ready to cuddle and chop a little wood. Just be careful where you swing that ax. Here are six suggestions:
Hat by Original Penguin, $80
Union Suit by 2Xist, $59
Sweater by Billy Reid, $595
Shoes by Tommy Hilfiger, $179; Scarf by Perry Ellis, $70
Backpack by Tommy Hilfiger, $129
Jacket by Marc by Marc Jacobs, $798
