Last night, Travel Channel premiered its new docuseries, Hotel Amazon, which features childhood friends Rusty Johnson and Stephan Jablonski, who are hoping to build a world-class resort in the exotic Peruvian Amazon. Sounds like drama, right?
The follows Johnson — a wildlife lecturer and humanitarian — who is pursuing his dream of opening a top-notch resort in the Amazonian jungle. He's doing it with the financial help of Jablonski, a New York firefighter who also had a windfall when he won on Wheel of Fortune. He risks all of his winnings to invest in making his longtime friend's dream hotel a reality.
Over the course of six episodes, the friendship will be tested as they struggle to adapt to the wilderness filled with relentless downpours, thieving monkeys, limited essential supplies and more than just a few peculiar locals.
