Vacation On Location: Camp Classics

Everyone gets excited when they recognize a street or town in a major motion film. Some of us even turn excitedly to our theater neighbor and whisper "I know that place!" to the utter annoyance of other movie-goers.

Dennis Hensley, in a hilarious reversal of this stock narrative for his recent column on Gay.com, picked his top five movie locations and not only went to one, but took the golden opportunity to re-enact a scene from the film that made it famous: Brokeback Mountain.

For us non-actors, Upper Kananaskis Lake in Alberta, Canada is still a lovely place to shack up and do some hiking. Nearby Calgary is stocked with cowboys and free-pancakes at least once a year, too, during the annual Calgary Stampede in July.

Personally, if I were going to recreate a camp classic for my next vacation, I'd probably pack a tour bus full of drag queens and take to the Australian Outback with Ce Ce Peniston's "Finally" in my heart, a la Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
