Four of our intrepid writers went down-under to uncover the best of Australia’s four most sophisticated southern cities which were this issue’s cover story.

Sydney, full of galleries and theaters, as well as home to the iconic Sydney Opera House, is considered the city of art. Historic and visually stunning, the Paddington area, the center of the city’s thriving arts scene, is a must visit. Appealing to the stomach, Melbourne is a food lover’s paradise. The city’s famous for its diverse cuisine and it’s brimming with various eateries, bars and food markets, so bring a healthy appetite.

For something a bit different visit Perth and escape civilization without ever actually having to leave the city limits. Surrounded by beautiful beaches, Perth is the place to soak up the sun as well as some culture and don’t forget to bring sunscreen with that surfboard. And traveling further south to Hobart reveals an idyllic setting full of history and romance. Rich in charm and natural beauty, the city is host to many same-sex love stories, some true, some only a legend, but all heart.
