We haven't had time for a site inspection of the fabulous-looking new Hotel Veritas in Cambridge, Massachusetts, but we wanted to bring it to your attention with Boston Gay Pride right around the corner. Plus, pre-opening buzz has been pretty great.

The latest is the hotel should open "definitely on May 23," according to the general manager Benson Willis, but they've had to push their opening back a few times since it HotelVeritas_bed came on our radar a few months back. They are accepting reservations for later this month so our guess is that this opening date is pretty firm. The 30-room luxurious hotel is really the only one of its kind in Cambridge -- intimate and high-end -- and will no doubt accommodate visitors to Harvard and nearby MIT. (Check out the sumptuous bedding to the right.)

The name comes from the official seal (and de facto motto) of nearby Harvard University which is Veritas or truth in Latin. It is steps to Harvard Square with its shops, boutiques, restaurants, and -- despite years of gentrification -- and undeniably Bohemian vibe. Check their site for specials (scheduled to go live any day now), which is often a great way of visiting a new hotel at a reduced rate.

Benson, the GM, is an out gay man. He and his partner have been together for 17 years. He says, "I'm proud to live in a state that recognizes our relationship. Hotel Veritas is a very welcoming hotel and we anticipate having a very diverse clientele."

Boston is celebrating its 40th Gay Pride from June 4-13.It's really one of the under-rated American Gay Pride celebrations. Its schedule of events includes a flag raising, a dyke march and several really fun block parties. Pride is one of the few area events that brings the hugely diverse subgroups of Boston's queer communities together. There's also Pride Family Fun Day on June 5, Spectacle Island, Boston Harbor Islands.
