Fight for Your Rights Fabulously in Ptown

MassEquality.org is a grassroots organization working to achieve full equality for the LGBT community.
Even in progressive Massachusetts -- home to the first openly gay or lesbian state legislator, Elaine Noble, elected to two terms starting January 1975, and the first state to legalize same-sex marriage starting May 2004 -- the LGBT community must still fight to hold onto existing rights and battle for others we are not yet granted.
Like most such organizations, MassEquality.org turns to fundraisers to raise money to fight the good fight. Their next big event is the newly inaugurated Taste of Provincetown, scheduled for 6PM to 9PM on August 28, 2010 at the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, a beautifully renovated space with a clean modern design.
Guests will have the chance to sample some of the best food offered by Provincetown's most popular restaurants, paired with lovely wines as well as enjoy featured art from the museum and meet some of the movers and shakers in Ptown's vibrant LGBT community.
Featured restaurants include Victor's (with an interactive sing-along drag brunch on Sundays), Patio, Ross's Grill, Crown & Anchor, Karoo Kafe (yummy South African cuisine), Jimmy's Hideaway (great seafood and nice for solo diners who wish to eat at the expansive bar).
Individual tickets begin at $100 and can be purchased at www.MassEquality.org/ptown. Dinner can easily set you back $50 to $100 to even more per person in Ptown at some of the fancier restaurants, so this is actually a pretty good deal plus it's going to a great cause. This is my motivation for going to Provincetown at the end of the month.
I'll also be at their pre-event VIP gathering (4:30PM to 5:30PM) at the Harbor Lounge, which is a fabulous new lesbian-owned and managed venue, with a comfortable, airly lounge space with spectacular views of the harbor as well as it's own private jetty stretching across the sand to the beach. Perfect for a more sophisticated option.
Come join the fun (and support a great cause)!
