Well, Las Vegas is plenty cosmopolitan, but it's getting a brand new fabulous sounding hotel called The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The hotel (along with restaurants, spa, pools, entertainment, casino, and shopping, bien sûr) is scheduled to open December 15.

It's setting the hearts aflutter of Sin City hotel and architecture buffs since it's the first major hotel Cosmojune2010_1 development on the strip since the CityCenter Las Vegas opened late 2009 (a year before the scheduled opening of The Cosmopolitan). The grand opening party is scheduled for New Year's Eve. That might be a really fun night to make a reservation at the hotel, but hurry, that's always a popular night in Vegas, and it will be particularly so at this hotel.

Right: The purple-lighted hotel is still under construction but they're taking reservations for December 15, 2010.

For the money, it seems like the best choice of room category might be the Terrace Studio, which comes with a king size bed and private 110-square-foot terrace with stunning panoramic views of the Vegas skyline for a reasonable $300 a night.

The new hotel property is promising some nifty sounding features. Their Sahra Spa & Hammam will celebrate the desert, which surrounds this glittery oasis in Nevada and will offer, not surprisingly, a hammam, which is a terrific way to relax and rejuvenate. You may wish to enjoy one of the many dining options available in their "restaurant collection," including an outpost of Scarpetta, one of the finest modern Italian restaurants currently on the scene. Finally, the first-of-their-kind Gaming Casinos are a new way for guests to enjoy games in a private club-like atmosphere while enjoying the casino's floor-to-ceiling glass walls overlooking Las Vegas Boulevard (aka, "the Strip.")
