America's Best Shopping Cities
So, Forbes magazine sent some little shopping gnome to all four corners of our fair country and with some finely tuned algorithm ranked the best American cities to shop in. We'd like to put our faith in Forbes, but when they rank New York no.22, after metropolises like Phoenix, AZ (no.7); Denver, CO (no.13) and Nashville, TN (no.19), we can't help but shake the feeling that something must be off. And number 1? Houston, TX!
Sure, these cities may have more stores and shopping centers per capita than New York (even that seems like a stretch) but it's not a matter of quantity, its a matter of quality, isn't it? Surely these other cities can't be expected to have the array, from high-end to low, of goods that you can find on the isle of Manhattan. From the twinkling window displays of Bergdorf's and Barney's to the lines outside of the Ugg store in Soho, there's literally something for everything. Even the shady fake luxury good dealers down on Canal have a special je n'sais pas this time of year, n'est pas? So here's the thing, Forbes, we hate to be haters, but we're just come out and say it. You're wrong. This list, and all the time and money you put into it, is bogus. There, we feel better now.
