Shop-O-Matic: San Francisco's Temple to Paper

The cozy shop specializes in all things paper-related.

Last Friday was the oft-dreaded and mythologized Friday the 13th -- known for being a day of unfortunate luck. But for the city of San Francisco, it was quite the opposite thanks to the opening of a new homeware store Press: Works on Paper. A cozy shop specializes in all things paper-related (think books, wall paper, stationary, pencils and the like) with an eye for more handcrafted, quaint offerings. And while their energies are focused on the old fashioned world of paper and pen, that doesn't mean the owners are troglodytes -- in fact, their e-commerce is up and running already, featuring the array of books (old and new), limited-run magazines and (our favorite) a classic, vintage typewriter. Bay Area poets and wordsmiths beware, you may just never leave this charming new boutique.
