Dutch Airline KLM unveiled a new design for its business class on Tuesday at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Created by Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, the new interiors include fabrics inspired by the Milky Way and carpets made from recycled uniforms.

Jongerius said she and her team of designers created a palette of blue, purple, grey, brown, and white for the design after bringing colors onboard flights to see how they would look in different light. “The light condition above the clouds and the light temperature makes all colors very red,” she told Dezeen magazine at the launch. “We had to really work in that sense so that the red goes out of the color palette and so we chose these colors that have a bit of green in them.”

Jongerius’ work can now be seen in KLM’s 747-700 business-class cabins and will soon be introduced in the airline’s other long-haul aircraft—including its economy cabins. See pictures of her designs here.
