London Hotel Following Sharia Law Will Not Ban Gays

London Hotel Following Sharia Law Will Not Ban Gays

Officials at the Bermondsey Square Hotel clarify what their new rules will entail.

After the Daily Mail reported that London Hotel Bermondsey Square would begin operating under Sharia Law — thanks to new Islamic owners — some assumed that gay and lesbian travelers would no longer be welcome at the Southwark property.

Fortunately, that's not the case. Representatives of the hotel's operators tweeted that all guests are welcome at the 80-room property, which charges about 220 pounds a night. The operators wouldn't disclose more information on the owners, but they did confirm alcohol would no longer be served. Reports also surfaced that pork will soon be banned at the Bermondsey's restaurants.

While it's not clear if the hotel's operators practice Sharia Law, it is clear that the practice strictly forbids and harshly punishes homosexuality.
