Priscilla Closing Early in Vegas, Heading to S.F.

The stage production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert will close at Las Vegas's Venetian Hotel and Casino on July 21, four weeks earlier than planned.

While the musical received good reviews and "enthusiastic audience reactions," according to the Las Vegas Sun, producers decided to close up on July 21 instead of August 18 — for a total of 30 Vegas performances. "An analysis of ticket-sale trends has led producers to adjust the schedule to a five-week run," the newspaper reports.

The Priscilla tour will continue on, with its next stop in August in San Francisco. Those who bought tickets for the Vegas shows will get full refunds. The musical, starred Wade McCollum, Scott Willis, and Bryan West, is based on the 1994 Australian film of the same name that chronicled two drag queens and a transgender woman traveling through the Australian Outback.
