Break Out Your Leather for Tom of Finland’s Weekend in Palm Springs

Break Out Your Leather Harness for Tom’s Weekend in Palm Springs

Leather daddies and art aficionados alike won’t want to miss out on the fun this weekend at the Ace Hotel

Touko Laaksonen, better known as Tom of Finland, was a Finnish artist known for drawings of virile men engaging in acts of homoerotic desire.

Now, you can celebrate his work (and have some fun lounging poolside in your fave studded leather speedo) at Tom’s Weekend, a special three-day festival celebrating Tom of Finland’s legacy, running November 4 to 6 at the Ace Hotel & Swim Club (@acehotelpalmsprings) in Palm Springs.

The festival starts Friday with a poolside pop-up of the CULTUREEDIT/Tom of Finland store, including collaborations with J.W. Anderson, Honey Fucking Dijon, Happy Hour Skateboards, and Hiro Clark. There will also be an exhibition of Polaroid photographs by Tom of Finland ambassador Terry Miller.

Friday’s hyper-pop party by FAKE AND GAY includes afternoon poolside sets by founder Adam Kraft alongside Casey MQ, Saturn, and Ah-Mer-Ah-Su. In the evening, head over to Tom’s Lounge at the Amigo Room for music by L.A. house collective TUNNEL and DJ sets. Rush Davis and Kingdom joins TUNNEL on Saturday night.

Tom of Finland artist-in-residence Oat Montien gives a still life drawing class on Saturday on the Clubhouse’s second floor. On Sunday, L.A.-based queer and trans API collective QNA closes the festival with DJs Ly, Jae-An, Howin, and Pauliewog. There will also be performances by artists Yuki and Ethical Drvgs of Jolene, a trans-inclusive variety show.

Hiro Clark Darkroom Line of Men's Clothing

Of course, you will want to look your best for this fun weekend. Luckily, the pop-up Tom of Finland store features Hiro Clark’s “Darkroom/Tom of Finland” line of tees, sweats, tanks, and hoodies – everything you need except the tanning oil. For your viewing pleasure, we have 10 thirsty pics of hot models wearing Hiro Clark’s “Darkroom/Tom of Finland” clothing.
