Trixie Mattel is a business woman!
Since leaving RuPaul's Drag Race, Trixie Mattel has seemingly been deadset on becoming a mogul. She launched a successful music career, debuted a documentary, launched a cosmetics business, bought a gay bar, and inked a successfull ongoing partnership with Netflix. Just last year she returned to television as a judge for Paramount+'s Queen of the Universe. This year she returns for a show all her own: Trixie Motel.
First announced in 2021, Mattel is set to renovate a Palm Springs location into the Trixie Motel. A business venture she's embarking on with boyfriend David Silver, it's all set to be filmed and broadcast to the world in a Discovery+ show of the same name. According to a Discovery+ announcement, the series will begin airing June 1, 2022, right in time for Pride month.
The series is eight one-hour episodes and Mattel will attempt to turn the motel into the "ultimate drag paradise." Celebrities like Orville Peck, Dan Levy, Paris Hilton, and Tiffany Pollard are expected to make appearances on the episode.
There is no confirmed grand opening for the motel. Dani Dazey of the apparel brand Dazey LA will help to design the seven room space.
